If you really really really really like cars, don’t buy a house with a one-car garage and a single-wide driveway. It’s been a whole 5 months since I last bought a car and I feel like I’m dying.

I want more. I must have more. No. I must not... And yet, I must!

And yes, I know someone who did this. That’s what happens when your parents leave you a lot of money.

Can confirm! Had a townhouse once with a 1 car, and a single space driveway. Didn’t keep me from having 2 cars though, and parking 1 on the street (plus the ex-wifes car). Playing musical cars gets old.

Yep. I rejected many houses based on the garage/driveway situation. I ended up with a 2-1/2 car garage in bad, but save able, condition. As well as a driveway layout that lets me park four vehicles without any of them being in the way of any others, two in the garage, and two outside flanking the garage.

This. I married a wonderful woman but the garage situation in the house she owned before meeting me is just as you described and unfortunately we have to wait until we’re not underwater before we can find a suitable garage house to move to.

One car, hell we won’t even look at anything with less than 3 car this time around. My two car is packed, but I can still actually get two cars in it. My neighborhood is full of garages turned living rooms/kitchens... I feel so bad for the poor garages, they never saw it coming. It starts with an extra refrigerator, then the extra oven makes its way out there.... Then, welp, might as well put that extra dining set we found at the garage sale down the street.... Yeah, that’ll look great out there.... Poor bastards... Never had a chance. Makes me sad. But to each there own. So i say, three car or nothing. Or at least a lot with room to build a small shop or nice little four car garage. That would suffice. Eh, first world problems.

No garage, but very large carport(will be able to park Slowrunner sideways in and fit Fiesta and Vibe completely in) with a storage room. Also the driveway fit multiple cars and an 18 wheeler before us, so... And the property owner is a car hoarder, so many cars is no issue.

Yeah alas when we move out I’ll be very lucky indeed to get anything more than a single car garage. There’s just not the space here in the UK and house prices are mental.

I’m very lucky indeed that my parents have such a large place (which they only managed to get because my grandparents sold their house for just shy of £1m and moved in with us).

I did spend about 6 months without buying something though and it is terrible...

Yep, bought the first in october, large 3 domestic one ton truck wide (by width, not length end to end but all side by side), approximately 9 of them long driveway made of concrete. 3 car garage, shed in the backyard where I keep my beater civic 5spd hatchback.
